Watch Towers by LenseMan Watch Towers by LenseMan
A view of two World War II lookout towers along the Atlantic coast of Lewes, DE (Gordan Pond Wildlife Area). These towers (Tower No. 5 and Tower No. 6) are two of 15 built between Wildwood, NJ and Bethany Beach, DE in the 1940s as a first line of defense against invading German ships and submarines. They are no longer in use but locals and tourists respect and enjoy their presence on the... beaches. These towers are unique to this area and give the beaches character.

That's pretty cool.  I think I saw one in Cape May near the marshes.  I didn't know they could be found on the beach.
